FRESNO Living

Welcome to Fresno!

fresno1.pngIf you are considering Fresno as a place you would like to live, you are making a good decision. Fresno offers an exceptional mix of experiences. It is centrally located between three major metropolitan areas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento, yet it is isolated from the chaotic pace these urban lifestyles. There is a laundry list of outdoor activities awaiting the area residents; whether it be snow and water skiing, fishing, boating, golfing or hunting, Fresno has it all.

Fresno is located within an easy drive to four major recreational lakes: Millerton Lake, Shaver Lake, Huntington Lake and Pine Flat Reservoir. Yosemite National Park, as well as Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks surround the area to the north and south.

The area we now know as Fresno, was originally an arid desert. The area was acquired by the United States after the Mexican War and not long after, was incorporated in 1885, naming the city after the Spanish word for ash trees, which plentifully grew along the riverbanks. The development of irrigation in the valley attracted many farmers and ranchers to the area.

Today Fresno is the #1 agricultural area in the U.S. Previously know as the "Raisin Capitol", Fresno fertile farm land produces a vast variety of both fruits and vegetables. The recent growth to the area has brought change to the economy also, and has expanded it to include manufacturing, service and industrial operations.

This growth has also brought cultural and entertainment venues. Fresno offers many museums, live theaters, concert halls, sports facility and performance arenas. It also hosts a philharmonic orchestra, ballets, opera and resident theater groups.

However, best of all is the lifestyle of Fresno and the reward this that its real estate is among the lowest in the state. With all that the area has to offer, it makes Fresno a highly desirable place to live.
